QLeave Long Service Claim Cap Increases

Long Service Increases Claim Cap paid by QLeave from 1 Jul 23: Why & what do you need to know!

The Queensland Master Builders Association released an article outlining as of 1 July 2023 there was a change to the maximum pay rate for all claims paid by QLeave. Fortunately, for all workers the maximum rate was increased to $2,116 per week and applies to all claims paid between 1 July 2023 and 30 June 2024.

We saw the capped rate introduced back in 2009 to ensure the longevity of the long service leave scheme. The rate is reviewed annually and adjusted appropriately to currently industry pay rates.

So as a worker, what do you need to know?

To claim long service leave you must have recorded at least 2,200 service credits with QLeave which is an equivalent to 10 years in the industry. We do see an exception to this where an employee has stopped working but was in the industry for at least 7 years with 1,155 credits they are also eligible for long service leave from QLeave.

And, for the employers?

Employers can claim reimbursement from QLeave for some, or all, payments made to an employee for long service leave if they have been a worker with them for more than 10 years.

How do you make a claim?

Both employees and employers can submit a claim through QLeave’s online services at any time.
